Santa Fe, New Mexico
The leaves are changing! This is your chance. You only have a few weeks before it's too late.
The leaves along the Aspen Vista Trail near Santa Fe typically begin changing in late September, with peak golden colors usually arriving in early to mid-October.
What to Expect
Timing: The color change begins in mid-to-late September at the higher elevations and works its way through the mountains. The first couple of weeks of October are often the best time to catch peak color.
The Scenery: Aspen Vista winds through beautiful groves of aspens that turn brilliant shades of gold, yellow, and orange against the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. It’s one of the most spectacular fall drives and hikes in Northern New Mexico.
Crowds & Parking: Aspen Vista is extremely popular during fall foliage season, especially on October weekends. Parking can fill up quickly, so weekdays and early mornings are usually your best bet for avoiding the biggest crowds.
Keep in mind that Mother Nature makes the final decision! Weather, elevation, wind, and temperatures can shift peak color from year to year.
