It comes with a heavy heart and tons of emotion to announce Kickin Chicken will be coming to an end. We currently do not have a set end date but we hope to push this till the end of June.
Going to share really quick, I would like to write my employees thank you cards telling them what they did well and how thankful I am for them helping us build our dream. No one ever said running a food business was easy, but it sure was a lot easier doing it in Santa Cruz. So this is my thank you letter to you, Santa Cruz. Being a transplant from Los Angeles, the idea of community doesn’t really exist, but here that’s a different story. Nothing we did could have ever happened without the amazing support of the people around us; our community. Being able to be apart of, and help out so many institutions that just wanted to better this place and better the people who live here changed us. Santa Cruz has given us some of the best days of our lives, and help us build some of our strongest relationships. We will miss seeing our customers who have become close friends, and hearing from people just trying our food for the first time stoked. We will miss arriving at your houses and upon knocking hearing you guys scream “F**K YEAH Kickin Chicken!!!!!”. We will just miss serving our town. Losing what was going to be our first restaurant last year hurt and sadly we never got to process everything that happened. Instead, drowned ourselves in our work and took on helping everyone who lost their house during the fires or got relocated. It was just easier to put our heads down and just help you, who had helped build us. I will always believe that in this town you can build anything you want because everyone around you wants to see you succeed and that is special. With this chapter coming to a close what is next, who knows? It will always be geared towards helping. That was the best thing about food, being able to feed and take care of someone whom ever it may be. Thank you Santa Cruz, you have done more for us than we could have ever expected and will always be grateful. Hopefully we were able to do the same.
