Charlie Hong Kong opened on a bustling street corner in Santa Cruz in 1998. The purpose: to create a neighborhood eatery with a menu that offers healthy, sustainable, flavorful food at a great value -- and served fast! Today, we’re a fun, one-of-a-kind place creating fusion dishes inspired by the savory flavors of Southeast Asia and California. We use locally sourced, organic produce to build our

vegan-focused menu, and fish, chicken, and other meat options are also available -- we welcome all kinds here! You’re welcome to enjoy your meal on our covered patio or take it to go. We know you’re busy, active people who care about what they eat. You deserve lovingly prepared food that you’ll love and that loves you back. That’s what we’re all about!

Turning 81 this weekend, and I can’t help but feel grateful for the community that exists inside these walls 🌿

Charlie Hong Kong has become so much more than just a restaurant. It’s a place filled with connection, creativity, nourishment, laughter, hard work, and some of the most genuine people I’ve ever met. Every day I walk in, I’m reminded how special it is to be part of something that nourishes so many people while also honoring the incredible farm workers who put so much love and labor into our soil, food, and environment.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us, worked beside us, eaten with us, laughed with us, and shared stories at CHK over the years. Feeling extra thankful for this beautiful community and all the love that flows through it 💛
