We’re ready to dance with another Beer with Friends featuring some amazing rare beers from the UK!
As always, our friends from Redwood Records will be spinning heat with a Vinyl DJ set, and we will be pouring up:
Harvey's Armada Ale
Armada Ale was one of the first new 'Golden Ales' that emerged in the 1980s. It has a pronounced yet balanced hop character, derived from Fuggle and Golding hops. Originally commissioned by the National Maritime Museum, it quickly established itself as a piece of living history. Robust, refreshing and still a port of call in any beer-drinker's voyage of discovery.
Coniston XB Bluebird Bitter (Cask Pour)
Bluebird XB combines two of the great themes of ale brewing to produce something distinctive and new. The fine tradition of English Pale Ale is about quaffing, refreshment and complexity of flavour without alcoholic strength.
Then throw in new wave American hop variety Mount Hood with robust citrus aromas... Not too much mind or we might have an American Pale Ale on our hands? The result is a smooth ale with floral hints, light malt tones and a hoppy freshness.
Bluebird XB, familiar... but different
Harviestoun Old Engine Oil Engineer's Reserve
We brewed this after feedback from the USA suggested the abv of our original Old Engine Oil (6%) was too low for their tastes… So we created this intensely flavoured but incredibly smooth 9% brew especially for them! NOT AVAILABLE IN THE UK.
Heavily-scented chocolate aroma with loads of roast malt and dark fruit. An incredibly thick, creamy mouthfeel. Loads of chocolate flavours, some coffee and a sweet, fruity note to boot. There’s some alcohol in there (it is 9% abv after all!) but instead of being a separate element, it elegantly ties all the complex flavours together. This is Old Engine Oil turned up to 11 in every way.
