Ash and I are shocked and profoundly saddened by the loss of Jay and Kristen Ruskey. They were very special people and have left a giant hole in us and in this community. Jay was my boss at , but before that he was a mentor, a collaborator, and a friend. He was a great man, with an incredible amount of willpower, knowledge, and skill. He was one of my all-time favorite people to sit down and have a beer with. I think of everything I’m saying in this post, he would like that part the best.

For Frinj, we continue to be inspired by Jay’s leadership and are committed to carrying on the Ruskeys’ legacy in establishing California coffee. We have had a lot of momentum recently and we will do everything we can to continue it.

Thank you very much to everyone who has reached out to me and to Frinj showing their love and support. It really does mean a lot to us.

Big thank you to all who have come out for our experimental First Sunday brunch series.

We will be taking January off for travel and other projects. In the meantime we are putting our heads together to make this event even better.

We’ll be back in February with new ideas, dishes, pastries, coffees, vibrations!
