It’s hard to believe this was a year ago today. We were so happy, so excited to continue building on our sweet little island. Ian had other plans. We have spent the last six months, like so many others, trying to heal and make sense of what we have been through. How do you say goodbye when you aren’t ready to? How do you say goodbye when it wasn’t your choice? You don’t. Goodbye is an ending, and although Savoury Spoon as a brick & mortar is no more, Savoury Spoon as an idea will live forever. Love People & Feed Them. Carry on with making people smile, in that place where love, imagination, and a passion for food intertwine. We have immense gratitude for all of the memories we have created with our Spoon family. Thank you so much💗

Devastation
That word is not long enough
There aren’t enough vowels and consonants
To truly describe what I saw today
I am quite certain there hasn’t been a word
That could accurately tell you…
It’s DEVASTATING
That word, as insufficient as it is…
Is all I have
It’s not a me problem or a you problem
It’s an US problem
It’s a collective feeling of sadness and remorse
A feeling of what ifs and if onlys
There is no going back
To allow yourself to fester in the past,
Or even in the now,
It does no good.
Tomorrow
The next day
The day after and after and so on….
LIVE THERE
As hard as it might be
We have survived 100% of the trials and tribulations we have gone through thus far
THAT is where you live
In that place where you were walking the beach
Laughing and making memories
The place we all love
The place we all flock to
Sanibel
The place that now shares the same conundrum as the word devastation
There aren’t enough vowels and consonants
To truly describe our island
Our love or our resilience
But lucky for us our words are unnecessary
What we need resides deep in our hearts Immovable by any sea, surge or sadness LOVE KINDNESS ACCEPTANCE
Make a home there
Wrap yourself up with the knowledge that you are not alone in this *if you are struggling and need me please don’t hesitate to reach out.

The last time I was at my restaurant we stopped in to do some maintenance for when we reopened from our week long break. At that time the storm was going north of us, and I didn’t have a thought in my mind that it would be the last time I would see my beautiful brand new restaurant, we were only open two years. We put our life savings into it, borrowed money, and prayed that we were making the right decision. That it would pay off, that our customers from four years of markets would find us, and they did, albeit slowly, thanks to a global pandemic. It was HARD. But hard work pays off, and although we are still paying debts off from a restaurant that is destroyed, we were finally seeing an uptick in business, and I was positive going into our third season, we would finally get out of the red. The heartbreak I feel is overwhelming. Where do I go from here?
One little ray of sunshine, my recipes are safe. I brought my binder home with me to reorganize and make digital copies during our time off. Right now it’s the little things that make a difference. Grateful for all the outpouring of kindness, love and support, this morning the sunrise was incredible, and a great reminder that even if you don’t know what’s to come, there is always a new day ahead.
Link in bio if you can help, I can’t tell you how much it means to us.

We will cross that bridge when we come to it. It may not be until the end of the month, but wow…who expected that so soon? I long for the early morning drives, watching the sky, and wondering what amazing formations I would see…every day was so different, it truly was the happy lane. It will be again.

This
This day
The days AFTER
It’s surreal
First and foremost it’s the people
Each moment another one of you fills my mind
One after another
Are you okay?
What a loaded question
How can you be okay?
I hope you’re SAFE
That is much different than being okay
But it’s a START
A new beginning
This
This day
The day we start over
What does that even look like?
I don’t know and that’s okay
As we collect our thoughts and look forward
We want to say how grateful we have been
To feed you
To know you
To embrace you as family
We are forever humbled to have been a part of such a special place
Since we aren’t around to do it
Live life by our motto
“Love People & Feed Them”
