Today was a hard day on the farm.

One of our sweet little piglets crossed the rainbow bridge this afternoon. 💔

This morning we noticed he was very weak and not nursing. We brought him inside & he started having terrible seizures every 5-10 minutes. We reached out for veterinary advice, gave him supportive care, and spent the entire morning doing everything we could to help him. Despite our best efforts, he passed peacefully at 1:00 PM, wrapped up warm in a Paw Patrol blanket with us by his side.

It’s one of the hardest parts of raising animals. We celebrate every new life, but sometimes our hearts break too. I’m thankful we were able to hold him, love him, and make sure he wasn’t alone in his final moments.

Run free, little buddy. You were loved more than you’ll ever know. 🌈🐷❤️
Because he is now somewhere over the rainbow, I think his name is Lion, as he put up one heck of a fight.🦁
(Please note, this photo was our early morning struggles before the seizures started)

What’s on the table today?

For those who don’t know, I used to do candle making years ago & whipped up a batch the other day to try this scent I found at Walmart. Added a little ✨spice✨ and they cured beautifully! 🕯️

For now I only have 17 wax melts in Watermelon Hawaiian Luau scent out for $6 or 2 for $10 ❤️
However, if the demand is there, I’ll start making again!🌺

🚨 Day 4 of Wrongful Imprisonment 🚨

Hello everyone. Gordon here.

If you’re reading this, I’ve managed to sneak onto Mom’s Facebook while she’s distracted.

I have been locked inside against my will after taking a few peaceful sightseeing trips around Sandy Creek. Apparently “free-range Great Pyrenees” is frowned upon around here.

My crimes include:
• Taking myself on walks.
• Visiting Mud Creek for a refreshing spa treatment.
• Coming home wearing my handcrafted ear decorations made from sticks, burrs, leaves, and whatever else nature gifted me.
• Making approximately 47 new friends.

The warden (Mom) claims I “can’t be trusted.”

I claim I am simply a community dog.

My meals continue to arrive on schedule, the belly rubs haven’t stopped, and I have access to air conditioning… so conditions in Dog Jail are acceptable. However, my freedom has been stripped away.

If you happen to drive through Sandy Creek and don’t see a giant white fluffy cloud patrolling the streets, please know I am serving my sentence with dignity.

I remain hopeful for parole.

🌿 A Few Things to Know Before Visiting Mud Creek Homestead 🌿

As more people stop by the farm stand, I thought I’d share a few things that make our little homestead… well, our homestead. ❤️

🐐 Our animals aren’t confined to small cages. We believe animals deserve room to roam, graze, explore, and simply be animals. Two of our boy goats free-range around the property, so don’t be surprised if they wander over to say hello. Fair warning—they’re bucks, so they can be a little stinky and occasionally act a little… goofy. 😂

🦃 Our birds free-range too! Our chickens, giant turkeys, ducks, and geese spend their days doing what they were made to do—scratching for bugs, grazing, and helping keep insect and mosquito populations down naturally. It’s one of the many benefits of having a working homestead.

🐶 You’ll probably meet Gordon. Gordon is our Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dog. He absolutely loves his job and takes protecting our girl goats very seriously. We’ve tried convincing him that sleeping inside is wonderful, but he has other plans. He chooses to stay with his herd, and that’s exactly where he’s happiest.

💧 Our animals are well cared for. Every animal has constant access to fresh water, quality feed, treats, shade, and shelter during the hot months. When winter arrives, everyone has the barn to stay warm and comfortable.

🧸 We have three little farm kids. We have three children under six, so you may spot a toy… or thirty… scattered around the yard. That’s just part of raising kids on a farm! You might also have one of them run up to say hello. They’re friendly, curious, and love meeting visitors—but don’t worry, Mom or Dad are never far behind.

🥚 About our eggs… You may notice we don’t keep our eggs in coolers. That’s because most of the eggs on the stand were laid that very day. Fresh, unwashed eggs still have their natural protective coating, called the bloom, which helps seal the shell and keeps bacteria out. Because of that protective layer, freshly laid unwashed eggs can safely be kept at room temperature. Once they’re washed, though, that bloom is removed and they should be refrigerated.

🌻 We’re just getting started. Our farm stand may not be overflowing just yet, but we’re building it one step at a time. As our gardens grow, projects are finished, and new products are added, you’ll continue to see more each week.

Thank you for supporting our family’s dream. Every purchase, kind word, and visit means more than you know. We can’t wait to keep growing with this amazing community.

Oinkers did an absolutely phenomenal job today!

Piglet #1 arrived at 10-10:15 AM while we were away, then #2 followed at 10:20 AM and Dillon discovered she was giving birth when he came home to check on her!
The last baby arrived at around 1:30 PM, born sleeping.
She gave birth to 13 babies in total, with 3 born sleeping, 1 stuck under mama, and we now have 9 healthy little miracles!

I am beyond proud of her, as I always knew she had the potential to be an exceptional sow with her remarkable demeanor, and she has far exceeded my expectations. 🩷
Now, let's focus on staying calm and composed for the next six weeks! Our first farrowing experience was a success!
