When we talk about "Sake" in Japan, it generally refers to alcohol. It doesn't mean only "Japanese sake" (nihonshu), but also b**r and shochu. Shochu is a distilled spirit. The ingredients used to make shochu vary, including sweet potatoes, rice, barley, and more.
This shochu, "Fukiage Kura," comes from Kagoshima in Kyushu. It is made from barley and aged in oak barrels for more than three years. It boasts a brilliant golden hue reminiscent of wh**ky and a rich aroma derived from oak casks. Characterized by a deep body and a mellow flavor, it is best enjoyed on the rocks or diluted with water.
