Hi all, I’ve got some news that may come as a shock… I’ve recently been diagnosed with breast cancer.

I don’t yet know what this means for M+R down the line, but as for its immediate future I will have to pause production while I go through treatment and recovery. (Though anyone looking to order should be able to do so until about early April before things get started in earnest. )

This tiny business has been a joy and a privilege. I feel nothing but gratitude for each of you I’ve come to know and have been able to serve in some small way.

I have wonderful community and family surrounding me right now and I hope to be back running my little stone mill in no time—I just need to beat the heck outta cancer first. 🫶🏻

I’ll update when I can. Please keep me and my family in your prayers.

GREAT NEWS—we’ve expanded our reach to San Antonio!!!

We are delighted to be on the shelves of and in vibrant San Antonio. We want to extend our thanks to these stores for supporting small, local producers like me (the only Texan-lady-stone-miller in the game 😜).

If you live in the area, go shop these stores now! We’re on the shelves and they have other fantastic producers represented as well.
Yeehaw, y’all!

My kids are back to “school”! And as often happens, there are several allergens that aren’t allowed in the classroom—so I developed these truly delicious vegan muffins for an easy grab-and-go breakfast they could have in class. Hope you enjoy them too!

Y’all…these are SO good. 🧈 Classic buttery, flakey biscuits, but with that nutritious, flavor punch of stone-milled, whole grain flour.

Grab some of our stone-milled, whole grain organic flour and get baking!

Ingredients:

-2 cups of Org. Soft White Wheat flour or All Purpose (plus approx. ½ cup extra for dusting)
-1 tbsp baking powder
-¼ tsp baking soda
-1 ¼ tsp salt
-6 tbsp of unsalted butter (grated from frozen, or through a food processor is ideal)
-1 cup buttermilk or regular milk

Instructions:

1. In a mixing bowl whisk together the dry ingredients.

2. Next, add the frozen grated butter and cut into the flour until appears crumbly and pea sized (you can use your hands, pastry cutter, or fork).

3. Pour in the milk and fold with a spatula until fully incorporated. The dough will be sticky and wet.

4. Pour the dough onto a lightly floured, clean surface. Sprinkle the dough with flour and flatten into a rough rectangle, about an inch thick. Using your hands or a bench scraper, fold over one side of the rectangle (taco style) and pat flat again, dusting any sticky exposed parts with flour. Repeat this folding/flattening six times (this creates the flakey layers!).

5. Flatten the rectangle to about a ½ inch high, and cut into your desired shape/size (I do squares, about 2”x2”). Transfer to a parchment covered pan or baking sheet. Keep biscuits close, spaced no further than ½ an inch apart. Sprinkle tops with salt if desired.

6. Turn the oven on to 450, and while it preheats, stick the prepared pan and biscuits in the freezer to firm up for about 10 minutes.

7. Bake biscuits for approximately 15 minutes (times may vary based on your preferred biscuit sizes). Let cool for at least 10 minutes, then enjoy!

It’s so nice eating something freshly milled by someone other than ME 😅🫶🏻.

Loved visiting and supporting our friend Julian and fellow grant winner at his new coffee (and masa) shop

The house cortado is completely unique and delicious and don’t skip the masa Tw***ie (it’s kid approved so you know it’s yum). Way to go, friend!

M+R has wonderful, WONDERFUL news. Back in January we applied for a Culinary Grant to support our scale, growth, and educational endeavors. I’m so grateful to share we were one of 12 grant recipients state wide. Some really incredible food entrepreneurs applied and we are blown away to have been chosen.

We happily received a named grant sponsored by . This grant focused on entrepreneurs who have faced setbacks and boy do we qualify… 😆 Thank you to Tito’s for this generous support of our business.

As I said, we were just 1 of 12 deserving recipients (and can I just tell you how much internal fan-girling was going on?!) and I’m honored to be among them. Please visit the site to view the other winners and go out and support them! They’re doing amazing things.

We’ll be sure to update you all as we sort through exciting next steps! Until then, please accept our sincere gratitude to all those that support M+R. We couldn’t do it without you. ♥️
