There is a special need for men’s clothing in good condition. If you’d care to donate any clothing or food products to help out, your contributions will be much appreciated! We also have a wish list for basic necessities.

Three years of organizing, advocating, and building power for renters in SLO. Join us Friday, May 29 from 5 to 7 PM at Ancient Owl Beer Garden (3197 Duncan Rd A) to celebrate how far we’ve come and look ahead to the work still in front of us.

Elected officials, community organizers, renters, and allies are all welcome. Bring your family, bring your friends, and come ready to celebrate. This is our moment to reflect on where we started, honor the community that made it possible, and recommit to the road ahead.

Join DSA SLO for our February General Meeting on 2/22 at 4pm, then come attend the 7pm showing of “All That’s Left For You,” a documentary film that follows a Palestinian family across three generations amidst genocide in Palestine. Let’s show our Central Coast community that Palestinian stories are valued and needed, especially with the ongoing genocide in Gaza. Even if this show at The Palm Theater sells out, show up for your support of these stories.

Sithy Yi, a survivor of the Khmer Rouge genocide in Cambodia and a speaker from our School Speaker program has been detained by ICE.

Sithy has lived in the US for almost 45 years, she was arrested by ICE during a routine immigration check-in. She's currently at an ICE facility in Adelanto, California. Sithy is technically protected by the UN Convention Against Torture (UNCAT) from being deported back to Cambodia, but we're not sure why she was detained or if and where she could be deported to. Her family can use your support, they all have gone through so much in their lives 🙏🏽.

Sithy and her family have shared their incredible journey with our schools for years now. From fleeing the fields of Cambodia, eating grains of rice to survive, to starting the Cambodian Town Parade and Culture Festival held annually every April in Long Beach.

We have witnessed the power of their storytelling with local students, so this one hits hard too. We are hoping for the release of Sithy and send her family much strength. 🙏🏽

It’s pretty clear where we stand on the terror ICE is inflicting on communities across our nation, including our own in SLO county.

We’ve decided to close for business tomorrow, Friday the 30th in support of the General Strike.

We will be open from 5-8pm for cash “pay what you wish” service and our scheduled performance from the wonderful Ena Luis-Belo.

A gentle reminder not to shame small businesses or workers who have to stay open tomorrow. We all are doing what we can, and there’s no sense in dividing the movement.
