This Thursday is our last Farmers Market (for now).
It's hard to believe that it's been ONE WHOLE YEAR since we started serving food downtown on Thursday nights. We'll miss the incredible energy that the team brings week in and week out, seeing friends that would stop and say hi at our booth, and our customers who went out of their way to come try our food each week. Thank you so much!!
But, there's a lot that people don't see, even when you can see EVERYTHING going on in our booth. Our lives have revolved around Bap Jo. It forces its way into every conversation became my daily obsession, and with my full-time job at Cal Poly, food prep and tasks took up many week nights and weekends. I got just a small taste of the massive amount of stress and anxiety that full-time, small-business owners feel with the soaring prices of goods, the shortage of labor, and all headaches that come with owning a small business. It's easy to rationalize the overwhelming work load with the reality that you are the owner, that it's your responsibility, but it doesn't negate the toll on your body, your mind, and your soul. And I have to say, the margins in the food industry STINK 🤣.
BUT, there are so many things I've learned, grown in, and been positively impacted by in the past year that have made me a better leader, person, husband, chef, entrepreneur, and follower of Christ. I'm also very thankful for all the friends that have helped us in our booth - and have had to deal or be around stressed-out me 😅😬.
So, hopefully, we get to see you this Thursday, if not, stay tuned as we will announce how and where you will be able to get our food again!
