It is about the event that the cupcakes or cake accompany. Growing up, food was an event in our family. It still is a major part of everything we do. I grew up baking with my grandmother and enjoying family events with huge feasts. I am originally from southwest Louisiana and food is just part of who we are as a Cajun/Southern family. It is in every celebration, event, conversation, and believe it

or not - every postcard from vacation. Once one meal was over, we were planning the next. I heard somewhere that memories are wrapped up in smells. Well, rice and gravy smells like Sunday in the country and Catfish courtboullion (pronounced Coo-bee-yon in Louisiana) smells like Good Friday. Brownies smell like Grandma and Grandpa's house, and buttercream icing smells like Maw Maw. It's who I am and where I'm from. So, when I needed to really start relaxing from the stress of work and life (2008), I started baking. Then I started sharing it with friends and one thing led to another. So now you know it...Once upon a time a little southern girl grew up and started baking. Then came, Once Upon a Cupcake...because life should taste like a fairytale.

Y'all... I am a pretty tough sell when it comes to others' baked goods, but I have to give a shout out to Sam the Cookie Lady. This lovely lady and her amazing team have won over San Leon and surrounding areas with her special sweets and treats. When I say special, let me tell you, I have never eaten a whole cookie she has made, in less than two days - that's how big these things are. I'm gonna specifically plug her latest creation because I've never seen anything like it, but all of her stuff is incredible, especially the chocolate chip, smores, and white chocolate cranberry. The chef's kiss goes to the NEW and (hopefully not) limited edition, Pineapple Upside-Down cookies. Looking to kill a craving, have a special something at an event, or show some love to a friend or loved one? Hit her up - you won't regret it.
