Our Story

Manakish Oven and Grill celebrate the history and the flavors of the Middle Eastern Mediterranean with a robust variety of spices, hand-marinated blends of meat and authentic hand-stretched cheese that is unique to the Eastern Mediterranean that represent the cultural roots of owners Adam Taleb and Feras Gaban.

Owners Adam and Feras call themselves “serial entrepreneurs” and enjoy the challenge and energy business start-ups demand. They have successfully built several consulting businesses, and are excited to finally bring their shared passion for Eastern Mediterranean comfort food to their newest business venture, Manakish Oven and Grill. Manakish is the ultimate comfort food throughout the Middle East and is the best way Gaben and Taleb can bring their love for their roots to their home in the U.S.A.

Adam and Feras share the same story of immigration and humble beginnings. Their families fled their homelands to the United Arab Emirates where the young boys were raised. It was there they were introduced to a life of hard work, survival, and entrepreneurship. Although the UAE is known for oil and oil money, their families each built a life from entrepreneurship. It was not until Adam and Feras moved to the United States to attend college did their paths cross.

With many parallels in their lives, Gaban and Taleb began to explore entrepreneurship as partners in the US after college. Their passion for the food of their homeland is what ultimately brought Manakish Oven and Grill to life. They realized many of the Mediterranean options in the Bay Area were not reflective of the authentic aromas, textures, and flavors they grew up with. Wanting to expand the horizon of Middle Eastern cuisine in the Bay area and bring the heart of their home to the East Bay - Manakish Oven and Grill was born.
