Chromatic turns 14 today! Fourteen years of coffees, colors, curious ideas, and a community that keeps making room for all of it. Thank you for showing up, sharing a cup, bringing friends, and keeping this wonderfully weird thing going. 💜

The Unicorn Pony has grown along with us. This year, the robes are on, the cauldron is bubbling, and the season calls for a little alchemy.

Enter BLACK OPAL. Our latest little potion mixes Unicorn Pony cold brew with black currant, violet syrup, a touch of lemon, and sparkling water. Dark fruit, floral mischief, and a shimmer that catches the light like its namesake stone. (Yes, it’s edible sparkles!)

Dreamed up in a collaboration between last year’s coffee mocktail champ; Kayla, and one of our OG founders; Hiver, this birthday brew carries the spirit of Chromatic all the way from our earliest experiments to our deepest learned knowledge. Lots of tasting, tinkering, and the magic of making an idea real. A little seasonal sorcery, served over ice.

Cauldron to cup, with a few sparkling embellishments. Here’s to everyone who’s helped shape Chromatic, and to whatever bubbles up next. 🔮🦄

14 years of Chromatic. A little older, still a little weird. 🦄💜
Meet Unicorn Pony, our anniversary blend of Ethiopian and Colombian coffees. Washed clarity, dry processed fruit, and a little Koji Mossto fermentation magic, all finding their groove.
Grape, strawberry, and black cherry up front. Syrupy caramel and maple sweetness keeping the party grounded.
National Coffee Day yesterday, International Coffee Day tomorrow. Seems like a good time to keep the cups full.
Thank you for fourteen years of showing up, sharing coffee, and keeping Chromatic moving. Happy coffee holidays, friends.

Happy National Coffee Day! Come in and celebrate, first drink is on us 😉

GET THE BAND BACK TOGETHER!
Parainema Reunión has returned.
Three distinct expressions of Rosalio Ventura’s Parainema from Finca Elizabeth, Honduras, reunited in one single origin blend.
Washed brings the clarity. Dry process brings the body and sweetness. Honey carbonic maceration brings the vivid fruit and strange electricity.
Three processes. One cultivar. Tropical fruit, creamy chocolate, and a long, nectar like finish.
The band is back together. Turn it up.

RIVER OF BEES

Deep in the misty forests of Oaxaca’s Sierra Sur, coffee grows beneath a dense canopy of native shade. Bees move between flowers. Rivers cut through steep mountain slopes. Ripe cherries travel by foot and mule across terrain too remote for vehicles.
This is San Vicente Yogondoy.

Yogondoy means “River of Bees” in Zapotec, a name rooted in the community’s relationship with the landscape. Producers here keep bees for honey and pollination while cultivating coffee among native trees that provide shade, food, medicine, building materials, and water retention. It is not just a coffee growing region. It is a living system.

At elevations between 1,500 and 1,700 meters, smallholder producers grow primarily Pluma, a native Oaxacan mutation of Typica that has thrived here for more than 80 years.

The farms are remote, and the journey from harvest to processing takes time. Cherries are often carried long distances before depulping, naturally extending their fermentation before the coffee is washed and dried in the open air.

That little stretch of time changes everything.

The cup is honey sweet, vibrant, and silky, with layers that keep moving as it cools. There is plenty here for the coffee obsessed to explore, but nothing about it feels demanding. This is an easy drinking coffee with a strange and beautiful current running underneath.
We roasted Yogondoy medium light to preserve that movement while bringing forward its sweetness and soft, flowing character.

A river through the forest.
A hive humming above it.
A coffee shaped by distance, patience, and place.

Remember StreetPass?

Chromatic does! We have a Nintendo 3DS at the cafe and would love to StreetPass with you! So next time you head over, don’t forget to bring your 3DS!

If you don’t know what StreetPass is, it’s a fun way to connect with others that use a Nintendo 3DS. When other users are near, their customized character pops up in your system to greet you and complete various challenges. It was a popular activity 10+ years ago, but we are still having fun with it in 2026 😎

TWO KENYAS. TWO RHYTHMS. ONE DROP.
Kamwangi Peaberry and Gondo AB are live now.
KAMWANGI PEABERRY brings caramel, ripe berry, plum, marmalade, blood orange, brown sugar, and hibiscus through a silky body with serious bounce.
GONDO AB moves deeper, with ripe blackberry and black currant setting the bassline as red grapefruit, pineapple, florals, and vanilla rise through a syrupy finish.
Both coffees were traditionally double washed and grown high along the slopes of Mount Kenya by smallholder members of their respective cooperatives.
Two coffees. Two frequencies. One shared release.
