Today, something special is happening... 5 new youth have entered our doors and are starting a brand-new journey. Their journey of hope begins with a 12-week boot camp that introduces every aspect of the hospitality industry, teaches life skills, offers 1-on-1 coaching, and builds mentoring relationships with staff. When they put on the Old Skool uniform, they will carry on our legacy of opportunity. They step into a wide web of support and love. Want to feel a sense of hope for the future? You've got to step through our doors and experience this for yourself.

Come Hungry. Leave Inspired. Dine out. Do good.

Suhayl Ramirez developed her palate and passion for flavor during eight years at Taza Chocolate in Somerville, Massachusetts. Her love for wine began earlier during family visits to the Dominican Republic, where a sweet, chilled red at backyard gatherings sparked her curiosity about wine and its power to bring people together.

Driven by her enthusiasm for food, drink, and sensory experiences, Suhayl applied for the Urban Grape Wine Studies Award for Students of Color in 2020. As the inaugural recipient, she spent a year exploring the hospitality, distribution, and retail sectors of the wine industry while developing her palate through education at Boston University's Elizabeth Bishop Wine Resource Center.

Now based in Healdsburg, California, Suhayl serves as Brand Experience and DTC Manager at Overshine Wine Company, a Black-owned winery celebrating soul music culture alongside California varietals. She holds WSET Level 2 Wine certification while completing her MBA in Global Wine Business.

Since 2008, Advanced Cicerone Sayre Piotrkowski () has been a defining voice in the Bay Area craft beer scene, moving fluidly between brewery, distributor, and retailer roles with the singular goal of elevating beer—both in quality and cultural standing. More than an industry professional, Sayre is a historian of the pint, a storyteller who connects beer to broader social and philosophical currents, treating it not just as a beverage but as a living artifact of human tradition. His award-winning writing, video, and audio work has appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle, SFGate, Final Draft, GuildSomm International, and Broke-Ass Stuart. His insights have been featured on The Good Beer Hunting Podcast and numerous radio broadcasts.

Some days are really, really special... We had the thrill of a lifetime hosting ' Leadership Huddle Luncheon at Old Skool Cafe. These remarkable players came together to honor each other's service to their communities, share their stories, and spur one another on. This is what leadership looks like.
