We got to meet him in 2019 when we launched the limited edition Black Rhino Cocoa Chai in honor to ensure that the Black Rhino is not faced with the same demise! On Saturday our favourite blind one-eyed rhino Baraka turned 27🎉!

Baraka was the first rhino to be born on Ol Pejeta, after losing one eye to cataracts, and another in a fight, he was moved to a secure enclosure, as his chances of surviving in the wild were slim.

Since then, he has become a remarkable ambassador for his species. He has a gentle, trusting temperament and loves nothing more than a mouthful of sugarcane (or carrot!) and a delicious mud bath.

Happy Birthday Baraka! 🥳

Happy Birthday to everyone's favourite blind black rhino, Baraka!

Baraka was among the first to be born on Ol Pejeta, on 20th November 1994. He lost sight in both eyes due to a fight and followed by a cataract.
Baraka now lives in what used to be Morani’s 100-acre enclosure, for his own safety, and carries the flag for his predecessor.
By adopting Baraka for a year, you will help us to give him the life he deserves. You will also help us to secure the future of all the rhinos that live on Ol Pejeta.

A year ago we were working out of our living room and just did this jungle installation at David Rio Chai Bar 💚 they continue to be one of our favorites to visit every week....It helps that they make the best chai we’ve ever tasted 😜What a difference a year makes!
