We will be closed for lunch service and will re-open at 4:30 PM on Saturday, February 6, 2021 to allow our staff, owners and customers to attend a rally at UN Plaza in San Francisco which is very important to all of us and to the Burmese Community in America.
As you have most likely heard, the last week has been one of turmoil and chaos for Burma and Burmese People around the world. Early Monday morning, the Burmese military deposed the duly elected government in a coup widely condemned around the world. Burmese civilian leadership, activists and community members were rounded up and detained primarily without charge or charged on a frivolous basis. More recently Facebook was blocked in Burma, which serves as the main source of outside communication and information for Burmese people.
While freedom cannot exist without well informed political discourse represented by all reaches of society, it should be resoundingly obvious that it can never be allowed for armed soldiers to depose popularly elected government officials without due process in a free society. The intent of Saturday’s rally is to reinforce this fundamental truth and to support our friends, family and neighbors in Burma and to show the world the support of our friends, family and neighbors here in San Francisco.
We would be eternally grateful and humbly honoured if you would choose to join us at UN Plaza in San Francisco from 1-3pm PST on Saturday, February 6, 2021, if you believe it is safe for you to do so. For your safety and that of our community, we would ask that you please wear a mask, practice social distancing and abide by other appropriate COVID-19 abatement measures at all times.
As always, we are truly blessed to live in a community like ours and very appreciative of all of your support.
