Maraming salamat to our PH fans and followers. We are very grateful for your love and support over the years and hope you can continue to support us as we move on to the next chapter. Tara na!

Mixing things up with this month's with a backyard get down theme.

For Aling , backyard pistas are a time for family, friends, and of course, eating! The past few months have left our hearts and minds bruised, but we find comfort in the fact that food can be a means to heal, engage in meaningful conversations, and create community.

As always, kamayan is available the last Saturday of every month.

Sapin sapin | Pear, black currant, hazelnut latik

Sapin sapin is a type of or glutinous rice cake that originated from a northern province of Abra. The name came from the word "sapin" which means sheets or layer. It is made with a batter of glutinous rice and coconut milk, and usually consists of three separate colors and flavors. The most popular combination consists of a yellow layer infused with langka or jackfruit, a white coconut layer, and a vibrant purple layer flavored with ube.

After steaming, the cake is usually garnished with toasted coconut flakes or latik/coconut curds.

Our version uses seasonal fruits of pear and black currant with a latik made from hazelnut.

Taste and see this colorful and uniquely Filipino dessert in our Winter AHE.

Kulma is a beef curry dish originating from the Tausug people, a predominantly Muslim ethnic group, native to southern Mindanao, specifically in the western region, from the Sulu Archipelago — including Basilan and Tawi-Tawi — all the way to the Zamboanga Peninsula.

A close cousin to korma, Tausug kulma is cooked until fork tender with coconut milk, peanut butter, lemon, lemongrass, tomato sauce and spices. Kulma is often served as part of dulang/latal, a communal tray of various Tausug dishes served during special occasions.

Our rendition uses beef cheek with a peanut curry sauce, yu choi, and market greens. This dish is included with six other dishes in our Winter AHE. Link in bio.
