When the weather outside is frightful
These dreary evenings positively beg for hearty, warming dishes like our g*eng massaman g*e, a tender lamb shank in a silky, coconut based Massaman curry with a bit of heat but also sweetness. Grilled baby scallions and bright, juicy pomegranate kernels add a pop of contrast and a refreshing acidity to the dish. As always, served in a gorgeous bowl made for us by !

A dram of whiskey is the perfect accompaniment to brisk, late fall evenings! Our beverage director, Jackson Miller, has been working diligently to track down some beautiful, allocated Japanese whiskies to add to our spirits list. We think all of these bottles are complete delights, but we are especially excited about the following two:

đŸ„ƒ Chichibu: Ichibo’s Malt US Edition 2021

Chichibu is among Japan’s most revered distilleries and has been called has called “the Pappy Van Winkle of Japanese whisky,” by Wine Enthusiast.

We are so excited to have secured one of these extremely special bottles. The fourth release in the U.S. edition series saw only 2150 bottles produced! This non-peated single malt was matured in a combination of new barrels, 1st-fill bourbon barrels, and new hogsheads to achieve the sophistication, complexity, depth, and balance that are the distillery's hallmarks. As always, production was overseen by Ichiro Akuto, grandson of the founder of the legendary Hanye Distillery. When  Chichibu launched in 2007, it was the first distillery to open in Japan in more than 30 years. It is nothing short of astounding that, in just under a decade and a half, Chichibu is now widely regarded as one of the leaders in the increasingly demanding, high-stakes world of single malts—a testament to Ichiro's singular vision, dedication, and drive.

đŸ„ƒ Yamazaki Mizunara 2022

Mizunara is a species of oak native to Japan and is considered the signature enhancer giving Yamazaki its quintessential Japanese character and elegance. Whiskies which undergo a long maturation in Mizunara casks take on a distinctive Japanese spiciness and incense-like flavor of sandalwood and agarwood. The Yamazaki Mizunara Single Malt Whisky is comprised of meticulously selected long-matured malt whiskies showcasing the rare, distinctive beauty of the hand crafted Mizunara casks.

This bottling’s time in mizunara oak has imparted a spicy, aromatic character with rich, elegant notes of custard cream biscuits, caramel, cinnamon, incense and oak throughout the palate. It is gentle on the tongue and has a finish resplendent with deep woody notes reminiscent of Japanese incense.

Woo! After a few long years devoid of any such events, we are delighted to announce our first winemaker dinner since the *before times*!

This coming Thursday, November 10th, we will be hosting winemaker Michael Malat from Austria’s Kremstal, where he makes elegant organic and biodynamic Riesling, GrĂŒner Veltliner, and Pinot (and a few others!) We are been big fans and think his bottles wonderfully compliment the complex and intricately layered flavors of our cuisine. We will be pairing a selection of his vibrant, exciting wines with a four course dinner in our Suda room.

Malat’s family has been making wine in Kremstal since the 1700s, but the winery’s dynamism has only grown under his stewardship. The Source writes “The previous level has been elevating under Michael’s eagle-like eyes which have set him on his upward climb. There is something extraordinary and unique about the expression of these vineyards under Michael’s direction. Even the entry-level wines find absolute deliciousness and express enough intellect to enamor us wine geeks. There is a range of yellow fruits and spiciness that walks you through a stone fruit grove and into a baker’s shop first thing in the morning. These wines seem to be born with a natural gravitation towards the highest level and each vintage seems to trump the previous one. The limit of the quality this estate is churning out has not yet been established.”

The dinner will begin at 7pm and is $175 exclusive of tax and gratuity. Please email us at [email protected] to reserve your spot at this intimate dinner.

Cabbage. Often relegated to a supporting role or as a dish filler, It’s not normally a leafy vegetable that screams star power— but we aim to change that! This delectably garlic-laden, fish sauce caramelized Arrowhead cabbage is so flavorful you’ll never look at this leafy brassica the same way again. Please trust us— order the cabbage!

We truly don’t know where the year went, but holidays are right around the corner and our large party spaces are filling up quickly. If you were hoping to book a holiday party at Nari, we encourage you to reach out tout suite!

One of two secluded spaces for large party dining, our downstairs semi-private wine room seats up to twelve and boasts reclaimed wood from Thailand, art by , and views into the kitchen so you can catch the action while you dine.

While wine isn’t necessary to book the wine room (we do have a fabulous cocktail + mocktail menu), our 10+ page wine list boasts particularly strong Riesling and Burgundy sections while still featuring many gems from other regions both known and more esoteric. If you are planning a wine centered party, our beverage director, Jackson Miller, would be delighted to help you choose some beautiful bottles to pair with your meal off our list (or perhaps we may even have a hidden gem or two that has yet to appear on the menu!), and if you’re planning on bringing some bottles of your own, our corkage policy can be found on the FAQ section of our website. The room has been specifically designed with a counter perfect for wine line ups and double decanting old bottles, plus a wine fridge steps away.

We also have our fully private Suda room located on the mezzanine, available for parties of up to 24.
