What is an empanada?

Think of them as a savory hand pie, a stuffed dough pocket or a mini calzone - filled with just about anything from meat, vegetables and/or cheese. Just bites of deliciousness…

Empanadas are very popular throughout Latin America, Spain and the Philippines. They can be fried or baked, sweet or savory (depending on the region), and can be eaten as a snack or a full meal.

At Chalos, our empanadas are Argentine-Style and can be served fried and/or baked.

New Hours at Chalos (Taraval)!

Hola Amigos,

At Chalos, our favorite part of the day is seeing your faces, hearing your stories, and making sure you have a warm empanada in hand. As we continue to grow and navigate this journey as a small business, we are always learning more about how to best serve this wonderful community.

We’ve realized that our heart truly beats loudest during the morning and lunch rush. To make sure we are bringing our best energy (and the freshest batches!) to your table, we are shifting to a continuous daytime schedule.

Starting tomorrow, February 17th, we’ll be keeping the ovens going straight through the afternoon so you can catch us all the way from breakfast through a late lunch:

Our New Hours:

Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Saturday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Sunday: Closed

We know we’ve adjusted our sails a couple of times this past year, and we are so incredibly grateful that you’ve stayed on the ride with us. This change allows us to stay sustainable, efficient, and—most importantly—focused on what we love most: feeding you well.
