Besharam Celebrates Food Is Love with Chef Palak Patel on Wed May 22 nd.
I am welcoming fellow Gujarati chef Palak Patel for a special evening celebrating Palak’s new cookbook, Food Is Love.I will serve her peanut avocado chaat salad from her beautiful cook book.
The themes within the book reflect the spirit behind Besharam and my mission to reveal her Gujarati heritage through a deeply personal culinary experience. Thank you Virginia,for a beautiful write ❤️Your words are so heartfelt to me. “Besharam is important on a few levels: showcasing a female chef at the height of her powers and voice; highlighting regional Indian food that doesn’t get the attention it should outside of India, seen through the unique perspective of its chef; a neighborhood restaurant that manages to be both welcoming and relaxed, yet also hip and dynamic; and a vegetarian restaurant displaying dimension, variety and possibility in a plant-driven menu.”

We’ve joined forces with other Bay Area Indian restaurants to help raise money to go towards the American India Foundation’s COVID relief efforts in India. On Tuesday, May 25th, 50% of our food sales will be donated back to the foundation towards their work in supporting India’s health infrastructure as well as protecting frontline workers and helping those whose lives are most disturbed by the COVID-19 pandemic. We hope you will dine with us to support this cause that is extremely close to our hearts.
