Rustic artisan baked goods, seasonal salads, soups and pizza fresh from the oven, local Four Barrel coffee and a mission that allows you to Eat Great & Do Good at the same time. Hayes Valley Bakeworks is a vibrant bakery and cafe in the Civic Center neighborhood of San Francisco and a non profit social enterprise whose mission includes job training and employment for people with disabilities, the homeless or are at risk.

model in support of our staff, community and the general strike.

Cash is encouraged.

News bad, caramels good!

Bakeworks already diverts over 90% of our waste to be recycled and composted. With reusable cups we could eliminate almost all our our waste.

That's why we offer a $0.50 discount when you bring your own cup all year. Reduce, reuse, recycle.

Bakeworks is open today in support of our community.

We stand with immigrants and all marginalized communities. It's our diversity which makes San Francisco such a great city.

Our doors opened almost 14 years ago to create employment and training opportunities for people with disabilities and those at risk of homelessness - that mission will continue!

Today we're offering 10% off for cash payments. Keep money in our communities, where it belongs!

We'll end the year with a Christmas theme:
The lemon bread smells like a sugary dream.
The banana bread dance in delight,
while the scone claim they’ll be the stars tonight!

Danish was rolled with cinnamon and cheer,
topped with a cream cheese frosting schmear.
The customers came and wished their holiday best.
Now it’s time for us to go home and rest

Then ginger cookies, all spry and bold,
Declared, "No crumbs left to be sold!”
The ovens are off, with no more to mix,
we’ll bake again in 2026.

Thank you to all our customers, friends and people who donated to our pie drive to help those in need. You all helped to make 2025 a great year at Bakeworks! All your support means the world to us and keeps our training program strong. Thank you so much!

And a special thanks to all of our trainees, staff and support team at Toolworks. All your hard work inspires us and helps to improve the lives of others, and strengths our community. Thank you all for your great work!

We look forward to continuing our work next year - see you January 5th!

A San Francisco Holiday

Santa ditched his sleigh for some trolley rides,
Through the foggy hills, with elves as guides.
Reindeer parked by the Ferry Buildings glow,
“Snow?” he laughed, “We’ve got sourdough!”

Hayes Valley buzzed with holiday cheer,
As hipsters caroled at the garden of beer.
Santa smiled, “This town’s got flair —
The Christmas magic is everywhere!”

We have power again, yay!! Now there's just one more day to get your holiday goodies. We'll be closing at 2pm Tuesday so be sure to stop by soon!

It's that time again!

We're excited to partner with Mama G's again this year to help provide food for this in need.

It's also time to get your pie and bread orders in for the holidays! This year, we're offering a special discount if you buy one and donate one. Find the link on our website (in bio).

With so many cuts to social programs this year the need is greater than ever. If you're thinking about positive ways to spend your money this year, helping those in our community who need assistance would be a great choice!
