We are back from our winter break and ready to see your pretty faces in here again!

Although we are keeping a close eye out on the storm, we plan to stay open. If we do decide on closing to ride out the storm we will post here so stay tuned

It's that time of year! Firefly squid or hotaru ika from Hyogo prefecture is in the house! We got them in a bit early as the season typically starts March and ends in May. As the season progresses they become a bit larger but not by much

Hi everyone!

After discussing with our staff, we are extending our “pause” while omicron cases fall so we can finish some necessary restaurant maintenance. We plan to reopen with full indoor dining and takeout on Feb 9th!

In the meantime, if you’re craving sushi, we are planning to do some small scale catering jobs for neighbors and friends. Send us a message, email us [email protected] or text Ryo/Cory if you have an occasion you’d like us to be a part of.

Hi Everyone!
After a review of operations these past few days, we have decided to press pause on all business operations for two weeks.

Even after closing our dining room and operating with only take out, we couldn’t keep Omicron away from Kuma. 

Based on data from other cities, we approximate that around two weeks from now we should be in a marginally better place. Until then we are going to rest, de-stress, and get ready for a return on Tuesday, Jan 25th.

In the meantime stay healthy, everyone!

The 510 pound wild boston bluefin tuna that came in last week. Those are my 2 biggest knives and the tuna makes them look like a toy. The parelles fish monger is a 11 inch knife, and the rhino cleaver is a beast weighing in at 2 pounds

I'm putting those knives to good use here. The big belly and fine tip on the parelles for filleting the fish. The rhino to split in half and chop though some bones.
kiyoi thank for letting me help out on this beautiful tuna. Always fun hanging out and smelling like tuna at the end of the day.

Tis the season for some saury pike or sanma in Japanese! Sanma is hands down quintessential fall fish and this is our very first batch.

Ponzu, fresh grated ginger, and scallions on top with plenty of wasabi because the fatty meat from this beautiful silvery fish will neutralize the kick of wasabi much like toro would do.

Announcement time! We will be closed for the forth of July weekend, July 2nd to the 6th.

Pictured is our MajiDon (本気丼)a lunch special coming to our menu soon! Yamaimo yuzu tororo with aonori, house shichimi, negishiso over bluefin toro. 5 slices of Baja Bluefin akami and a raw jidori egg yolk.

When the light hits the salmon nigiri just right!

Couple of big announcement to make. As many of you know California is opening up today to allow restaurant at full capacity and lifting mask mandates. Our fully vaccinated staff will continue wearing masks for the safety and sanitation reasons for the foreseeable future.

With indoor dining and increased seats we will stop deliveries but will continue doing take-out for pick up only. We want to be able to focus more on the indoor dining experience that many of us miss.

Also we don't take reservations but you can follow our link in our bio to the online waitlist where you can join the list remotely!

Thank you everyone for your support through these tough times, we appreciate every last one of you who has done take out and came to see us in person to pick up. It has allowed us to be where we are today
