Join us on Wednesday, October 8th, 2025 at Hook Fish Co @ Proof Lab Beer Garden for an evening of shark science, film, and community in support of the California White Shark Project (CWSP). CWSP is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2022 after its long-running research lost institutional funding during the pandemic. While the nonprofit is relatively new, the science is not—Dr. Paul Kanive and Scot Anderson have spent over 30 years studying white sharks along the Marin and San Francisco coastline, building the world’s longest-running data set on these iconic predators. Their work has led to dozens of peer-reviewed publications, advancing scientific understanding and public awareness. Since its founding, CWSP has expanded its education program, bringing the world of white sharks into local classrooms. Enjoy live music, local food and drinks, and a raffle with outdoor-inspired prizes. Hear directly from Paul and Scot during a live Q&A, and explore their research at californiawhitesharkproject.org. The evening concludes with a screening of Near Miss, a short film by Josh Berry that tells the gripping story of a shark encounter and survival.
