Today is kind of a big day for us, 14 years ago today we opened Gialina, this little place that I had in my dreams.
Named after my grandmother Angiolina & using my family photos, which as a child I was fascinated with, I wanted to create a welcoming space for everyone.
Gay/straight, young/old, single/married and everything in between!
My hope was that people would come out to this tiny space in Glen Park, enjoy a lovely meal & walk out the door wanting to come back again!
Those were my modest, yet lofty goals.
It was difficult in the beginning, but isn’t it always?
Little did I know then that we would be featured in for Pizza Friday & receive numerous Top 100’s!
Have a episode that every time it runs it creates a tsunami of business (sorry Abel!), and have requests from former customers for the dough recipe because they moved and now their child will not eat any other pizza!
That we are people’s first stop after picking up family at SFO.
That Gialina was the requested last meal of my doctor’s daughter before she went off to college!
And that I would get to meet so many amazing customers including .laurie and so many more!
But it is my staff over the years that I really want to thank for making Gialina special all these years! Agata, Ned, Rachel, Coco, Big Manny, Juan, Rosie, Pedro,Little Manny, Luis, Irvin, Antonio, Jimmy, Nicole, Juliette, Megan, Shannon, Rebecca, Bekah, Milo, Molly, Brian to name just a few!
And to Abel, who has been at Gialina for ALL 14 years, since we opened the damn doors, I absolutely could not do this without you!!! 💗💗💋💋🍕🍕🔥🔥
