Over the weekend, Tropical Storm Lala swept through Hawaiʻi, triggering landslides in Kaʻū that washed out roads and bridges, damaged homes, and left some communities completely cut off.
Kaʻū is home to people very close to our Firefly family, and while we may be an ocean away and unable to help on the ground, we’re hoping to send some much needed support to those impacted by the wrath of Lala.
Every Wednesday from August 19 through September 30, we’ll donate 5% of all food and beverage sales to relief efforts in Kaʻū.
If you can, come kōkua (help) us send a little mālama (care) to our ‘ohana (family) across the sea.

Last month you all helped us raise over $2000 for the PCRF in support of Middle Eastern children facing unfathomable hardships. While we love feeding our community and making our guests’ lives a little better, we still can’t help feeling like we need to find a way to do more. It doesn’t feel right to stand back and enjoy the little cozy corner of the world we have created for ourselves and our guests. We want to use whatever privilege or platform we have to help the oppressed and fight the oppressors.

So! We’re going to keep it going. Every Wednesday in June we pledge to donate 5% of our sales to the Trevor Project, the leading su***de and crisis NPO for LGBTQ+ youth nationwide. Come dine with us on Wednesdays in June and have a little serving of resistance alongside your fried chicken (or excellent and extravagant vegan entree!).

For the entire month of May, 10% of our Wednesday sales have gone to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund. It’s the last Wednesday of the month which also means it’s the last night for this fundraiser but this all made us feel really good so we’ll probably do something else soon. Stay tuned.

We are blown away by the support last Wednesday in our effort to raise funds for the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund. We were able to raise $700 in just one night, which is a lot to us!! If it is not a lot to you, we are doing it again tomorrow and there are some really expensive wines on our list, to help us and you be even more impactful 😉. Thanks for showing up!

Friday, May 1st, is international Workers’ Day, as well as another general strike. We wish we could take part in every action against this illegal, immoral, greedy and self serving administration and its enablers. For the previous general strike in January, we closed in solidarity and even paid our staff for the day. Sadly, we’re still feeling the impact of that decision and are not in a position to close our doors again without putting our team and our business at risk. We’re finding it hard to balance showing up for something bigger while also taking care of the people who rely on this place day to day. If you’re able to participate in this day of action, we support you and we encourage you to make your voice heard with your wallet by stepping away from corporations like Amazon, Target, Home Depot, and any company that has supported this administration or failed to support workers’ rights. If you are coming for dinner tomorrow, consider using cash to help keep money out of the credit card companies’ pockets. It’s not lost on us where we’re communicating this either; so yeah, f**k Zuck, too. And unequivocally, f**k ICE.

Throughout the month of February, come in for dinner on any Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, mention the SF public school you would like to support to your server, and Firefly will donate 20% of your food and beverage total to that school!
