All I can say is… WOW.

Eighteen years.

I’m honestly not sure where the time has gone.

It began over cappuccinos in a London café. My husband, Scott, and I were obsessed with incredible coffee, but back then, great specialty coffee wasn’t easy to discover.

So we built the thing we wished existed.

With our two-year-old son Ollie in tow, we spent two months traveling the country, visiting roasteries, meeting extraordinary coffee people, and finding coffees we believed deserved to be discovered.

A year later, we launched what I believe was the first multi-roaster coffee site, pioneering a space that barely existed.

From the beginning, it was never just about what was in the cup.

It was about quality. Craft. Sourcing. The farmers and communities who grew the coffee. And the remarkable people who roast it beautifully.

Those things still matter as much today.

These 18 years have brought joy, chaos, heartbreak, reinvention, laughter, and more cups of coffee than I could count.

And somehow, through all of it, I still smell the coffee in life.

I often think Scott must be upstairs, amazed that I kept this whole thing going. I’m also fairly certain I’m his favorite television show.

A comedy, obviously.

Our once coffee-obsessed little boy Ollie is now at university in the UK, while my team and I are still here doing what we love: discovering remarkable roasters and bringing their coffee to you.

This is more personal than a business.

It is a passion.

I think of us as a little independent record label for coffee. We discover talent. Champion roasters we believe in. Introduce you to names you may not know yet. And we choose based on the coffee, the people, the integrity, and the passion behind it -not simply who can make us the most money.

For better or worse, that’s always been who we are.

So here’s to 18 years since that first cappuccino in London, 17 years online, countless roasters, more than a million coffees sold, and all of you who made this wonderfully improbable journey possible.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

And because a birthday should always include a present:

Enjoy 18% OFF everything today.

With enormous gratitude,

Elise Papazian

To Our Friends, Near and Far ☕️ 🌎

Happy International Friendship Day! Today is a United Nations (UN) day that highlights the role of friendship in fostering peace across many cultures. It is observed on July 30 each year. It’s got us thinking about the friends we’ve made all over the world — and how much of life’s best flavor comes from the people we share it with.

It all started with a friend named Mary. When I was 18, my best friend, Mary - always the good talker - somehow convinced/bamboozled my parents into letting me join her on a teen Club Europa tour of Europe. After two months and over twenty countries, I returned home a different person. The cities were unforgettable, but it was the people who really stuck with me: dancing on tables in pubs with British girls in white pumps, riding on the back of Vespas with Italian boys, cruising the Greek island of Hydra with a cliff diver named Andreas, singing Beatles songs overlooking the cemeteries of Venice, and sharing an amazing seafood dinner in Sorrento with locals. A memory I still think about today. That trip planted something in me. Travel became part of who I am — not a hobby, more like a low-grade, wonderful fever. Travel continued until it didn’t. Life got in the way for a while. Many years slipped by in work and routine, until a friend’s wedding in London created the excuse to book a ticket. That was it. Game on. I haven’t really
stopped since.
