It’s official, the earth has been rotating around that damn sun and I have not been able to find a way to slow it down. So that means I’m officially another earth rotation around the sun old.

When I was ramping up to enter my 40’s, I really wanted them to be my best years. You have the privilege of living for 40 years and have hopefully figured out what you want in life. My focus was to be financially, physically and mentally fit, travel the world and go on as many surf trips as possible. I haven’t achieved any of them yet and it’s a work in progress and that’s just fine😂

In all honesty, these have been some of the most challenging years of my life but they have also been the most fulfilling and rewarding. No day is ever the same and there are always a new set of challenges and I look forward to that.

So here’s to 42, I think it’s going to be my best one yet and I’m glad y’all will be a part of it❤️❤️❤️

It’s springtime around these parts (kinda) and we are stoked to announce our newest seasonal Sandy. Sandy’s Spicy Tuna Salad (It’s not that spicy, shut up!) We decided to go in a new direction this year and Casey did an amazing job with the Sandy. It’s fresh, tangy, and just overall delicious. What’s in the sandy, you ask?

Tuna
Pickled Jalapeño Mayo
Shredduce
Cold American Cheese (thanks sincere)
Zesty Dill Pickle
Bui Phong French Roll, toasted

It’s a pretty solid portion and perfect for this time of year. We will have this starting tomorrow until the Tomato Sandy makes a comeback. Come on by, give it a try, and say hi. (Yes, that rhyme was on purpose.) Peace

Happy Mothers Day to all of the amazing moms out there❤️❤️❤️

Sandy’s turns 3 tomorrow. 5 years if you count the popup days which at this point I think we have to.

A long time ago, French Charles used to get so mad at me when people would congratulate us and I would say we were just lucky. He would say no, you worked your ass off, own it. Miss you, love you Charles. And you know what, after 5 years I think it’s time to start owning that. I have worked my ass off, and now I’m so tired, haha.

One of the biggest shifts is learning how to go from being an operator to being an owner. I’ve always been in the trenches — that’s all I know. But the team at Sandy’s is amazing. They literally try to kick me out the door every day, trying to save me from myself. So you might not see me as much when you come by, but I can promise you are in great hands.

There is a new chapter coming for Sandy’s and I can’t wait to share it with you all when the time is right.

Here’s to 3 years and a whole lot more to come.

We are incredibly honored to be named #23 on the San Francisco Chronicle’s Top 100 Restaurants list. To be a part of a community of such incredibly talented chefs and hard working industry peers is something I don’t take for granted. This industry is so family like — there’s so much crossover of people I’ve worked with over the years and seeing them doing their own thing, growing, thriving and being recognized for it is one of the most rewarding parts of being in this business. And making new friends along the way makes it even better.

This recognition means a lot because it makes us feel seen for what we try to do every day — keep it simple, keep it consistent, and keep it delicious. Thank you to the Chronicle, to our incredible team, and most of all to everyone who walks through our doors.

🔥 BOUDIN CHOPPED CHEESE 🔥 This Saturday & Sunday only.

If you know me you know I love taking things from back home and putting our own spin on them and this one has been in my head for a while. My idea, Casey’s ex*****on — and she crushed it.

For those who don’t know, boudin is a Cajun sausage made with pork, rice, onions, peppers and spices all stuffed into a casing — it’s one of those things that if you grew up around it you know and if you didn’t you’re about to find out. My aunt and uncle put me on to The Best Stop in Scott, Louisiana a long time ago and we’ve been getting their boudin filling shipped out here to the shop ever since.

Our version: boudin sausage filling, onions, American cheese, shredded iceberg, tabasco mayo and pickled red onions all on a roll. A chopped cheese with a Sandy’s twist.
Saturday & Sunday only, while supplies last.
Special starts at 11am

🦞We Are Bringing Back The Burl🦐

I am so stoked to announce that we are bringing our crawfish and shrimp boils back to the Bay. When we were still a popup, we offered seafood boils and they were always an amazing experience. Once we opened up the brick and mortar, I didn’t have the capacity to continue them. But now we have an amazing team in place and I am ready to start burling again!

We will offer crawfish during crawfish season and shrimp year round and are still finalizing the menu and pricing. As soon as we have that dialed in, then we will share it with y’all. In the meantime, feel free to reach out to [email protected] if you have any questions or interest in booking a burl.

We are bringing it back this weekend! I’m not saying it’s a big deal but you can ask the mayor if you think I’m lying, haha. Ok, let me run it back for you:

Smoked ham hock broth and meat
Andouille sausage
Red beans & Rice
Onions, green bell peppers, celery
Cajun seasonings
Pimento cheese
La Palma tortillas

This burrito is rich in flavor and may require a nap after. The change this year is adding some pimento cheese inside which rounds out the richness and makes it one of a kind. But I’ll let y’all be the judge of that. We will have limited supplies this Saturday and Sunday and hope to run it as a special again in the near future.

And don’t judge me, I forgot to take a new picture with the pimento in the burrito cause I ate it all.

We are so excited that San Francisco is hosting the Super Bowl this weekend. With the city feeling like it’s got a pep in its step, it will be exciting for fresh eyes to see how amazing our home is. I hope that everyone that visits has the most incredible time and shares their amazing experience with everyone they know.

We also hope that if youre planning on watching the big game that you think about ordering some food from Sandy’s. Super Bowl Sunday is one of the busiest days of the year for our little ole small business and I want to keep it that way! (with your help obviously) So go ahead an place your pre order today and we look forward to seeing you in the shop on Sunday!!!

👑⚜️ It’s King Cake Season at Sandy’s! ⚜️👑
If you know, you know… in New Orleans, King Cake season runs from January 6th (Twelfth Night / Epiphany) all the way to Mardi Gras.
Okay okay… we’re a little late to the party — but better late than never.
Starting this weekend, we’ll hopefully have King Cake by the slice every Saturday + Sunday through Mardi Gras Day (Feb 17).
Important note: we can only make ONE king cake per day because our kitchen is tiny so once it’s gone… it’s gone
Unfortunately we can’t do whole cakes this year, but slices will be flowing.
Our King Cake: Buttery brioche dough + cinnamon brown sugar swirls, Brown butter frosting. Topped with Sandy’s-color sprinkles. Traditionally the colors are purple (justice), green (faith), and gold (power) — and we’re keeping it festive.
Come grab a slice and let the good times roll.

OPENING 6 DAYS 🥪
We’re finally at a place where it makes sense for us to expand our days of operation. Starting this week, we’ll be open Wednesdays from 11–4pm.
The goal is to get back to 7 days a week, but if I’ve learned anything… it’s don’t push it if you’re not ready.
See? You can teach an old dog new tricks 😅

We will be closed this week to take a little break and spend time with family. Sofia’s parents are visiting from Argentina and she’s already made her way down to Disney Land. I’m heading out to Knoxville tomorrow to see my whole family and Casey and the guys are going to stay local. We hope you have an amazing holiday and look forward to seeing y’all when we open back up.

Closed Thursday November 27th to Monday December 1st. We will reopen on Thursday December 4th

In other news, it’s been a year since my spinal surgery and I had an MRI last week. I got the results back and it looks like Timmy the Tumor has not made a comeback so I’m very thankful this year for my health.

I’m not sure how this became a milestone but here we are, celebrating reaching 10k followers on Instagram. The way I look at it, there are 10k people( and I’m sure plenty of bots) that are excited to follow our journey as we have and will grow and are here to support Sandy’s and the team behind our success. I hope to continue to grow our “followers” as I think it is a great way to communicate with our community and give them a glimpse behind the curtain of what goes into running a small business and the good, the bad and the ugly.

Everything you see here is generally spur of the moment posting, I’m trying my best to be more organized and consistent on this platform but that sh$ts not easy. As we grow, I always want to make sure that our true and authentic voice will resonate with y’all. So thank you again for following along with our journey.

I’ve been sitting on some big news and I’m so excited to finally share it. We’ve got a new member joining the Sandy’s team — please help me welcome Casey Rebecca Nunes, our new Director of Culinary Operations.

Casey’s a Bay Area native and has been in the restaurant game for 10 years. You might recognize her from spots like Media Noche, Che Fico, and most recently Reem’s. She also lived in New Orleans back in 2017 and still goes back every year for Mardi Gras. Honestly, she’s probably more in tune with what’s happening in New Orleans than I am — which feels pretty on brand for Sandy’s.

We’ve known each other for a little over four years now, after meeting at one of our first pop-ups. She’s been one of our biggest supporters from day one, and we clicked immediately — our shared love for New Orleans, both extremely extroverted and our vibes just align.

Casey’s unique skill set is going to help us tighten up operations so we can focus even more on growth (and, fingers crossed, expansion). She’ll also be jumping in on recipe development, collaborating on a bunch of specials to keep things fun, fresh, and delicious for y’all.

More to come soon — but for now, drop Casey some love in the comments and say hello.

We are so excited for our 1st year as a food vendor at coming up this weekend. Even more exciting, we will be posted up next to our great friends . I will drop our booth location Thursday or Friday once I now where it is, so if you are at the fest, make sure to come by, get some grub and say hello. I promise we won’t judge you if your pupils are poppin, haha.

The shop will be open normal hours this weekend so don’t you worry, you can still get your m**f fix.
