“Chiguru tegiyodu” (ಚಿಗುರು ತೆಗೆಯುವುದು)

Just like any other tree, the coffee tree also wants to grow tall, with new shoots looking towards sun. But tall trees make it difficult to pick the cherries from them.

Enter “Chiguru tegiyodu” (ಚಿಗುರು ತೆಗೆಯುವುದು).
The practice of Carefully pruning the new shoots to encourage side branching. This is done usually once before the rainy season and then one more time after the rain is over. Drooping branches and short trees are perfect during the plucking season.

As you can see my dad really enjoys this activity! 😂 j.k.ram

Yesterday was roasting day. Roasted another batch of 200lbs. Let me make if you want a bag :)

Before I can roast, I had to pick up the green beans from our warehouse in Hayward. But even before that I had to take Homar to Home Depot to buy more things for the cafe.

There’s no way I could move 60kg bags on my own, so I posted a job listing on Craigslist for roasting help and found Jose! Without him, this roast would have been very difficult.

After the beans are in the roaster, it’s a breeze. Anyways the new batch is ready. We’ll see you at the farmers market. Or just place an order on our website.
