Five years ago today 4/15 Fluid officially became a business. And somehow, it feels poetic that it shares a birthday with San Francisco itself 🧡🖤
Fluid was never just a space. It was always a feeling. A gathering. A love letter to our community.
Fluid was and still is a family.
It’s the people who came in every morning for their coffee, who made us part of their daily ritual. It’s our beautiful group of trans elders who shared their stories with us every Friday. It’s the community we built at La Cocina. It’s every conversation, every laugh, every moment of care we held for one another.
From building community at La Cocina to being recognized by TIME as one of the world’s greatest places, Fluid has always been rooted in something bigger than a physical space.
While we don’t currently have a physical home, that doesn’t mean we’re gone it means we’ve been in motion. Growing, dreaming, building something even more aligned, more intentional, more us for this next chapter.
Fluid’s legacy is family. To take care of each other. To always welcome all people.
We carry that forward in the spirit of our transcestors those who fought back against police violence at Compton’s Cafeteria and as we move into the 60th anniversary this year, we remain committed to uplifting that legacy of resilience through whatever comes next for us.
As we celebrate 5 years, we’re holding gratitude for everything that got us here and deep excitement for what’s ahead.
If you’ve ever been part of Fluid, just know… this story isn’t over.
Stay tuned for ways to support, rep Fluid, and step into what we’re building next. The next chapter is coming and it’s going to be beautiful ☕✨
With love,
