24th May, 2018 was......
Escargot Day

French for edible snails,Escargot were the first animals to be farmed by man; archaeological evidence has found traces of heliciculture going back thousands of years. They are consumed across the whole of what used to be the Roman Empire.Snails are an excellent form of protein,tasty, low in fat and they can't run very fast so they can't run away from you.
The flavor some gastropods a classically served grilled, in their shells, smothered in garlic butter or with a metal pick to hook the meat out with.

OCEAN FRIENDLY RESTAURANTS

Acqua California Bistro and Olive lounge is a proud member of the Surfrider Foundation.

Plastic pollution is suffocating our ocean and the many animals that call it home. Researchers estimate they are now over 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic in the ocean with the number continuing to grow every day. This pollution is impacting our Marine ecosystem wildlife such as seabirds, dolphins, fish, turtles. Plastic fragments are even displacing plankton at the base of the food chain.
So what is the best way to combat this global epidemic facing our ocean? It's simple: we need to stop the problem as its source!
The Surfrider Foundation's Ocean Friendly Restaurants program does just that. One restaurant, one customer at a time, increases awareness, drives change in behavior and ultimately creates scalable impact to reduce our plastic (and water) footprint.
