Well, that was a pretty great way to start Bocktoberfest. 🍺

We want to thank everyone who came by, dressed up, lifted a stein, grabbed some food from KURZ! or simply found a spot at the bar. It was a great first weekend and we really appreciate you spending it with us!

A huge thank-you to Ethan from Paulaner USA: German Brewer for helping host the festivities and keeping the party going throughout the weekend.

Our limited-run ceramic stein was made by Sahm and $20 gets you the stein plus your first fill.

Use it here, take it home and bring it back throughout Bocktoberfest. We only made so many, and once they’re gone, they’re gone.

We’re turning Bock into our own little Oktoberfest celebration for three weekends, with rotating brewery spotlights, stichfaß tappings, stein-holding contests, German festival food from KURZ! and decor by Pretty. Wild. Flowers. .

Here’s what’s happening opening weekend:

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 18

🔨 Stichfaß tapping at 5 p.m.
💪 Men’s and women’s stein-holding contests at 7 p.m.

TWO DAYS UNTIL BOCKTOBERFEST. THE COUNTDOWN IS ON. 🥨🍺

While we get the b**r and steins ready, KURZ! has been working on the food. Here’s what’s on their menu for week one:

SMOKED FISH DIP
Local fish, cold-smoked with herbs and served with crackers.

SAUSAGE BOARD
Two kinds of sausage with mustard, toasted bread, potato salad and house-pickled vegetables.

BIG PRETZEL
A double-twisted Munich-style pretzel served with mustard and b**r cheese.

CHICKEN SCHNITZEL PLATE
Chicken schnitzel with gluten-free breadcrumbs and mushroom gravy.

SCHNITZEL SANDWICH
The Kurz menu favorite with dressed greens and garlic aioli.

BEEF ROULADEN
Steak rolled with bacon, mustard, pickles and onions, served with Knödel and mushroom gravy.

Food made for a big table and a full stein.

BOCK’S FESTBIER IS BACK🍺
Last year our friends at Seek B**r Company brewed a Festbier for our first Bocktoberfest. We loved it so much that we asked them to bring it back exactly as it was, just with more of it.

Starting tomorrow, September 16, it’ll be available on draft and in cans at all Bottlecraft locations. Beginning September 18, it’ll also be pouring at Bock throughout Bocktoberfest.

This is a modern Wiesn-style Festbier inspired by the bright, golden la**rs served at Oktoberfest in Munich today. It’s brewed with German Pilsner and Vienna malts, Spalter Select hops and a single-decoction mash for extra depth.

Expect wildflower honey, toasted biscuit, lively carbonation, a crisp hop bite and a clean, dry finish. Flavorful enough to keep your attention and light enough to drink by the stein.

Kölsch Weekend starts tomorrow and with this hot stretch of San Diego weather, it feels like pretty good timing.

Kölsch does a lot with very little. Pale, dry, delicate and refreshing, traditionally served in small glasses that keep making their way back to the table.

We’ll have Reissdorf, Gaffel and Früh from Cologne on draught, alongside versions brewed closer to home by Everywhere and Seek.
