NAWIC San Diego Chapter 21 NAWIC San Diego Chapter 21 The San Diego Chapter was charted on April 30, 1959. The current chapter is active in the construction industry and the community.

Each year, the chapter participates in a variety of events, including educational seminars and conferences, Women in Construction Week, Block Kids (construction awareness program for children in grades kindergarten thru 6th), CAD/Drafting Contest (high school student activity), Camp NAWIC (a week long program designed to mentor high school girls planning to enter the construction industry), College & Trades Scholarships, Anniversary Night, Joint Meetings with other San Diego Professional Organizations and collecting needed items for local charities such as Rachel's Women's Center and the San Diego Food Bank.

September 10, 2026, marked a very special moment as the 2026โ€“2027 leadership of NAWIC San Diego Chapter #21 was officially installed.

As I step into the role of President, I am filled with gratitude. Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate our incoming leadership and the beginning of a new NAWIC year. Your presence, encouragement, friendship, and support meant so much to all of us.

A heartfelt thank you to our sponsors whose generosity helped make this beautiful evening possible. Your continued support of NAWIC and women in construction allows us to create opportunities for education, leadership, mentorship, connection, and growth.

A very special thank you to Myrna Smith for the time, care, and dedication you put into making our installation such a wonderful and memorable event. I truly appreciate everything you did to bring it all together. ๐Ÿ’›

My theme for this year is TIME.

Because time is one of the most valuable things we can giveโ€”to our chapter, our industry, our communities, and most importantly, to one another.

And when I say โ€œThis Is Our Time,โ€ I donโ€™t mean my time as President.

This is OUR time.

Our time to lead.
Our time to mentor.
Our time to learn.
Our time to volunteer.
Our time to support one another.
Our time to create opportunities for the women coming behind us.
And our time to make memories and friendships along the way.

I may have the title of President, but this year belongs to all of us. Every board member, committee chair, volunteer, member, sponsor, partner, and supporter has a part in what we will accomplish together.

I am excited and grateful to serve alongside this incredible group of women.

What a fun and meaningful evening of building blankets and building community! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ›๏ธ

Thanks to the generosity and teamwork of everyone who donated materials and joined us to cut and tie fleece, we reached our goal of creating 20 cozy blankets for children in need!

We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Future Construction Leaders in support of its partnership with Sleep in Heavenly Peace. These blankets will help complete the twin beds being built at the upcoming FCL Hard Hat Expo, giving local children a comfortable place to sleep.

Thank you to Pacific Rim Mechanical for hosting, Women's Construction Coalition San Diego for collaborating, and every volunteer who gave their time and heart to this special project. We had so much fun working together for a wonderful cause!

At NAWIC San Diego Chapter 21, we know that building strong foundations extends beyond the job site. Thatโ€™s why weโ€™re proud to partner with the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank for our Fight Hunger, Feed Hope food drive!

This year, Future Construction Leaders is partnering with Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to ensuring that no child sleeps on the floor. During the Expo, volunteers will build beds on-site for local children as part of the eventโ€™s hands-on Construction Zone.

FCL is currently seeking ๐ญ๐ฐ๐จ ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐จ๐ซ๐ฌ to help make this meaningful project possible. Sponsoring the Construction Zone is an opportunity to support local children, connect with construction professionals and families, and introduce young people to the many career opportunities available within our industry.

NAWIC San Diego Chapter 21 is sharing FCLโ€™s flyers with additional information and other opportunities that may align with your companyโ€™s charitable goals. Building Community, One Bed at a Time ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ๐Ÿ›๏ธ

Women's Construction Coalition (WCC) and the NAWIC San Diego Chapter 21 (NAWIC) are joining forces with Future Construction Leaders to support Sleep in Heavenly Peace at the upcoming Hard Hat Expo.
While FCL builds twin beds for local children in need, our mission is to complete those beds by handcrafting 20 no-sew fleece blankets and collecting twin sheet sets.

Weโ€™d love for you to join us for an evening of community and giving backโ€”no craft or sewing experience needed!
