The Haven Pizzeria Your neighborhood pizzeria In 1949, Dr. Haven and his son started digging a BBQ pit in their backyard in Kensington and decided to keep digging.

With the help of the neighborhood kids, they eventually created 700 feet of tunnels and a series of nine connecting underground rooms, where all of the neighborhood children would gather and play. Paying tribute to this whimsical act of the past, we’ve created The Haven! Today neighbors and travelers are welcomed here to enjoy food, drink and lively conversation in the heart of historic Kensington

. We offer some of the best Neapolitan-style pizzas in San Diego, such as our Cortez Pie loaded with candied bacon, mozzarella, gorgonzola, avocado slices and a sprinkling of arugula. You can choose one of ours, or build one of your own! We even offer gluten-free crusts. Other favorites include our Italian Sandwiches featuring home-baked bread, and unforgettable salads, like our Caprese Salad with sliced cherry tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, shredded basil and rich balsamic reduction. And of course, we make an amazing Antipasto Salad. Local brews are loved by all, and flow freely from eight taps, to pair with any one of our food items. We also serve wine and generous happy hour specials. We offer booths, tables, and outdoor seating options to assure that every guest is comfy in our inviting surroundings.
