Coffee is the seed of a tropical fruit 🌱
Photos from a recent visit to Kauai which is home to the largest coffee farm in the US. It is mind blowing to see coffee grown at this scale. Luckily the terrain here is relatively flat and mechanical harvesters (see photo 5) are able to be used along with massive vertical dryers to process the coffee. The traditional raised drying beds (photo 6) are much more labor intensive as they require careful attention and manual turning of the coffee to promote even drying. You could hire every human on the island of Kauai and not have enough hands to process the amount of coffee grown here in this way!
We would highly recommend visiting a coffee farm if given the chance!
