Sometimes, you’re reminded that what we’re building is about so much more than coffee, pancakes, and a place to gather. ❤️
Over the weekend, a woman walked into Comfort Cafe and simply asked, “How many staff members are here today?”
With no explanation, she reached into her purse, pulled out a wad of cash, and placed it in my hands.
She then shared that Sunday marked the one-year anniversary of her son’s overdose—and that this gift was being given in his honor. 🥹😭❤️
There are moments in this industry that stop you in your tracks. This was one of them.
Behind every statistic is a son, a daughter, a parent, a sibling, a friend. Behind every person struggling with addiction is a family carrying their own story of love, loss, hope, and sometimes unimaginable grief.
This is why the mission of SerenityStar Recovery matters so deeply. We exist to provide a safe, sober, and spiritual environment where individuals and families can heal and recover from addiction.
And this is why Comfort Cafe San Antonio exists.
Comfort Cafe is more than a cafe. It is a place where community meets compassion—a place created to support the mission of SerenityStar Recovery, with proceeds helping provide resources, support, and opportunities for people and families impacted by addiction.
That day, someone chose to turn her grief into a gift of hope.
We will carry that gift with us.
For the son she lost.
For the family who continues to love him.
For every person still fighting for their recovery.
And for every family praying that their loved one finds their way home.
We remember. We honor. We recover. We heal.
Thank you for allowing us to be a small part of such a deeply meaningful moment. ❤️
