Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. For the past several years, whenever I’ve cooked more than we needed, I’ve packed the leftovers into 20–30 plates, driven downtown and handed them out to people who needed a meal.
Now that God has blessed me with Tacos Los Hermanos, I want to do something bigger.
This Thanksgiving, we’re opening our doors to our unhoused neighbors, families experiencing financial hardship and anyone who may not be able to afford a Thanksgiving dinner. You’ll be welcome to sit down with us, enjoy your meal outside or inside, or take a hot plate to go, no questions asked.
We also hope to provide a limited number of Thanksgiving meal packages for families to prepare at home, including a turkey or ham, stuffing, potatoes, macaroni and cheese, rolls, cranberry sauce and dessert.
We’re asking our community for donations of food, drinks, supplies and desserts. We’re also looking for 12–15 volunteers to help us cook, serve, package meals and clean up.
If you can donate or volunteer, we would truly appreciate your help. If you can’t, there’s no pressure, a share and a prayer mean just as much.
I’m thankful for everything God has blessed me with, and I want to use those blessings to help someone else. Let’s come together and make sure more families and neighbors have a warm meal this Thanksgiving.
