❤️52 YEARS AND I THINK IT’S TIME I INTRODUCE MYSELF.
If you follow Luna’s, you’ve probably read a lot of these posts.
You’ve heard about our crazy days, our family, our food, our LUNAtics, the things that make us laugh and sometimes the things that make us stop and think.
But there’s one person I don’t talk about very often.
Me. 😂
So since today is my 52nd birthday, I thought maybe it was time to step out from behind the Luna’s page for a minute and say hello.
Hi, LUNAtics. I’m Erma. ❤️🌙
I’m one of the people behind Luna’s BBQ & More, and I’m the one behind most of the stories you read here.
I’m also the one you’ll usually find somewhere in the kitchen making sides, serving plates, preparing for catering's, helping wherever I’m needed, taking pictures of everybody when they’re not paying attention 😂 and probably already thinking about how I’m going to turn something that just happened into our next post.
And somewhere along the way, I realized something about myself:
I love telling the story of our food almost as much as I love making it. ❤️
I never expected that.
What started as simply trying to tell people about our little family business became something I genuinely love.
These posts have become a place for me to share our food, our family, our history, the funny moments, the hard working moments and all those ordinary little things that happen around here that someday we’ll probably realize weren’t so ordinary after all.
Maybe that’s because at 52, I understand a little more about how important those moments really are.
Life has given me some incredible people to love.
It has also made me say goodbye to some people I would have given anything to keep.
There are people who helped make me who I am today who aren’t here to celebrate this birthday with me.
But their love didn’t leave when they did.
I carry it with me. ❤️
In the way I love my family.
In the way I take care of the people who mean the most to me.
In the way I cook.
In the way I show up.
And probably even in these little stories I tell.
I’ve learned that life doesn’t always turn out the way you imagined it would.
But I’ve also learned that there can still be so much beauty in the life you end up living.
At 52, I get to care for the people who once cared for me.
I get to cook beside my family.
I get to watch something our parents started more than 40 years ago continue into another generation.
I get to see people walk through the doors of Luna’s, sit down together and make memories around food our family prepared.
And somehow, I get to tell the story of it all. 🌙
I’m still learning.
Still growing.
Still figuring some things out.
Still laughing at things I probably shouldn’t. 😂
Still trying to protect my peace.
Still taking entirely too many pictures of food. 📸😂
And still incredibly grateful that I get another year to do all of it.
So today, I don’t really want this post to be about getting older.
I want it to be about being here. ❤️
Being here for the people I love.
Being here to make more memories.
Being here to keep cooking.
Being here to keep telling the stories.
And being here to see what this next chapter has waiting for me.
And to all of you who read these posts, laugh with us, comment, share, walk through our doors and somehow became part of this little Luna’s community…
thank you for letting me tell you our story.
Because somewhere along the way, you became part of mine too. ❤️
So now, when you see one of these long Luna’s posts and wonder who in the world has this much to say😂
Now you know.
Hi, LUNAtics. I’m Erma.
I’m 52 today. ❤️
And I’m really glad I’m here. 🌙
Happy Birthday to me. 🎂🥳
