From the heart of San Antonio comes a dessert created to celebrate history, culture, and freedom. The year was 1865. And Union Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, TX on June 19th to render the words that had been inscribed on General Orders No. 3. Nearly two and half years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, those of African descent in Texas were finally FREE. But because Texas was so geographically isolated under Confederate control, Black people in Texas were still enslaved… until they weren’t.
So to commemorate the day that Negroes were freed from the chains of the Confederacy, their masters, and their hate, we honor our rich heritage with the new Juneteenth Freedom Pound Cake by Soul Butter Bakery Co. Every slice is handcrafted with vibrant Juneteenth colors. It’s perfect for family gatherings, church celebrations, office events, and community festivals. Soul Butter Bakery Co. also offers it as a sheet cake, cupcakes, and festive cookies.
