I’m sharing these beautiful images from (follow & support) along with a message.

Our committee of 7 Black women worked tirelessly to create the 2nd Annual Vegan Family Reunion. We put so much mental, physical, and emotional work into ensuring our mission was achieved.

Our Mission: The is a pop-up market and charity event focused on bringing joy to the community ✅ while pouring generously into the Black community through Black-owned businesses ✅, artists ✅, and charities. (✅ on the charities coming soon)

And, although each committee member was offered payment, they each chose to provide their time, talent, and labor for free (or at a loss) so more money would be available to pass along to the charities.

We are tired. We deserve rest. 💯

We are now focusing on operating at a sustainable pace that allows us the space to breathe, relax, and pour into the many other areas of our lives that lacked attention during the planning of the VFR. Thank you for your patience while we continue working behind the scenes balancing our books, finalizing payments, organizing the giveaway info, and preparing to announce the amount we collectively raised for the charities.

For more information about the importance of Black joy and rest, please scroll back to Feb 28 (or about 19 posts) to watch the recording of the live chat between and Katie from .

Thank you family! 💚✊🏾🌱

Anti-speciesist knowledge and practices of not consuming animals have existed in communities of color since long before White people popularized the mainstream vegan movement. Veganism is about recognizing that non-human animals have autonomy over their own lives and bodies, and that non-human animals have been at the receiving end of some of the longest-standing oppressions. White veganism erases people of color from the mainstream vegan discourse, appropriates cultures of color while pushing the white vegan agenda, and misrepresents anti-speciesism as a white invention. “Veganism” was coined in 1944 but thrived in communities of color prior.” - Black Feminist Vegan
