We try very hard here at Buzzed not to post about topics on which we don’t feel qualified. For the most part, that means we don’t really talk or post about anything that isn’t directly related to coffee.
That being said, Buzzed (like all of the US) would not exist as it does today without immigrants. The owner’s great-grandparents moved to the US from Italy in the 1920s, leaving behind a violent government run by a small group of collaborators hellbent on imposing their will on the masses while claiming to have a “mandate” to do so. Something very similar seems to be happening here, and it is not only unacceptable, but anti-American to its core.
We stand in solidarity with immigrants everywhere as well as anyone currently intimidated, harassed, or targeted by the untrained American stormtroopers flooding the cities of the administration’s political opponents. Federal agents need oversight, training, and need to be held to AT LEAST the same standards as an average police officer. This shouldn’t even have to be a request.
After much thought about how to best serve our employees and the community as a small business, the Buzzed Truck will close at noon in Rose Park, and Buzzed Coffeehouse will close at 5:00pm on Friday, January 30. In solidarity with “ICE out” protests here in Utah and to assure our employees can attend if they so desire, they have been offered the day off. To provide hours for those who need them and literature for those wishing to call their representatives, we will remain open within these hours. Be safe out there, and try to remember that the US is a lot bigger and more connected than 1920s Europe. It’s not too late yet ☕️🐝🇺🇸❤️
