We have an exciting announcement! In order to give more folks the opportunity to meet Becky Chambers, we are moving our event to the historic and beautiful Kingsbury Hall. Get your tickets now!

Join two-time Hugo Award-winning Becky Chambers for a powerful discussion on thriving in scary times through radical hope, community, and imagined futures. Legendarium and Under the Umbrella celebrate the release of her new book, AS YOU WAKE, BREAK THE SHELL - a q***r, hopepunk novel about surviving through found family and tenacious hope amidst environmental collapse. Becky Chambers is one of the most prominent and impactful science fiction authors of our time. This is her first visit to Salt Lake and first novel in four years, so don’t miss this rare opportunity to hear her on tour!

The event is hosted in collaboration with the Q***r Student Union of Utah and the University of Utah Gender Studies Progam. Legendarium and Under the Umbrella are sponsoring heavily discounted admission for as many students, at the University of Utah and elsewhere, as possible.

If you were an early bird in getting tickets, we will honor the original price you paid, instead of the new, slightly higher ticket price necessary for hosting in this beautiful space. If you do want to meet Becky Chambers in person, and have your signed book personalized after the event, you will need to purchase the difference between your original ticket price and the new Tier 1 ticket. We have limited numbers of personalization tickets, so if you do want this option, please reach out to the Kingsbury Hall Box Office at [email protected].

We’re turning 4 this Saturday but our ice maker yearns to set sail for the Undying Lands. Come to our birthday party this Saturday, August 29 to help us raise funds for a new ice maker. Because no one wants a Barefoot in Mordor when you ordered a Barefoot in the Shire!

P.S.: do not fear, our ice maker is hanging on for now, so iced drinks are safe for the time being
