Today, we wanted to share one of our favorite ways to brew the perfect cup of coffee, using a French press. If you're new to this method, here's a quick rundown on what it is and how it works:
A French press is a manual coffee maker that consists of a cylindrical glass or stainless steel pot with a plunger and a metal or nylon mesh filter. To use it, you'll need coarsely ground coffee beans and hot water.
Here's the basic process:
1. Heat your water to about 200 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Place your coarsely ground beans in the pot.
3. Pour the hot water over the beans, making sure to fully saturate them.
4. Let the coffee steep for about four minutes.
5. Press down on the plunger to separate the brewed coffee from the grounds.
So, why use a French press? One of the main benefits is that it allows for a fuller-bodied, richer flavor compared to other brewing methods. This is because the metal or nylon mesh filter doesn't remove as much of the natural oils and flavors from the coffee beans as a paper filter would.
When it comes to the type of beans to use, it's best to choose a high-quality, specialty coffee that has been roasted within the past two weeks. This will ensure that you get the freshest, most flavorful cup of coffee possible.
To bring out the full flavor of your beans, we recommend grinding them just before brewing. This allows the oils and flavors to be fully released and captured in the final cup.
We hope these tips help you brew the perfect cup of coffee with our freshly roasted coffee! Happy brewing!
