We’re the Cooper family—Zach, Diane, Beckett, Easton, Miles, and Landry—fondly known as “The Coop Troop.” Zach and Diane have been married for 18 years and share a passion for faith, family, and bold new ventures. Zach’s professional journey has been diverse and entrepreneurial, with experience ranging from farming and agricultural sales to real estate investing and athletic coaching! Always driven by curiosity and challenge, Zach’s latest farming endeavor has led him to launch The Hilltop and bring premium American Wagyu beef to your dinner table. Zach’s parents, Bob & Carla Cooper—third-generation farmers—have been raising American Wagyu cattle for over a decade. For years, Bob encouraged Zach to bring this exceptional beef directly to consumers. With a shared love for his dad’s American Wagyu and a desire to help you create melt-in-your-mouth dinnertime experiences, Zach and his family are excited and honored to share their family’s beef with you! The name “The Hilltop” holds deep sentimental value. In the 1970s, Zach’s grandparents, Charles and Irene Cooper, purchased a beautiful piece of land in north central Missouri and built their home there. They lovingly called it The Hilltop. Today, we honor their legacy and the memories made on that land by continuing the Cooper family tradition under the same name. We’re proud to share our heritage, our beef, and our journey with you.

We wanted to send our love, honor, respect, and deepest sympathies to the Pegelow family as they mourn the loss of their beloved husband, father, brother, papa, and our dear friend, David, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

For more than 35 years, David was an important part of our farm family here at The Hilltop. He was loyal and hardworking, a friend to us all, and without question, the best combine operator on The Hilltop.

David has been part of this place for as long as many of us can remember. He was there through the work and the long days, the cattle and the crops, the stories and the laughter, and all the ordinary moments that, looking back, mean so very much.

Some people become such a part of a place that it’s hard to tell where the memories of the farm end and the memories of them begin. That’s David.

His place here will not simply be filled by someone else. His absence will be felt in the fields, around the farm, and among the people who were fortunate enough to work beside him and call him a friend.

We are so grateful for the years we were given with David, for the work he shared with us, and most of all, for the friendship.

We’ll miss you, David. There will always be a little bit of you here on The Hilltop.

🌽🐮 A big THANK YOU to Cook Farms!

We’re so thankful for good neighbors and good people who help keep the farm rolling. Cook Farms did an awesome job chopping and packing silage for us, getting plenty of good feed tucked away for the girls this winter. 💛
