It is inevitable that the most well-made hamburger will leak ketchup, the most polite taco will come apart when you take a bite and don't get us started on what those packets of hot sauce will do. If the food is greasy, you can absorb the excess with baking soda.

Food stains on delicate items always take cold water - or dry cleaning, if applicable. Coffee or tea, jelly or jam and ketchup and mustard also respond to cold water. When in doubt, stick with cold. And if you are going to eat in front of the TV, tuck a napkin in your shirt. We won't tell.
