Our home for the last 15 years!!. Thank you Salem for all your support.
Todayโs ๐๐๐๐ฃ-๐๐ฃ๐-๐๐ค๐ฌ takes us to the Walnut Bowl at the intersection of Highways 32-72 and 19.
๐๐๐๐ฃ, the Walnut Bowl was constructed in 1958 as the final piece of Dr. Hartโs tourist court. The modern diner featured slanted glass windows inspired by Tokyโs BBQ on Route 66 in Rolla. The restaurant was popular with Current River floating traffic, and was even featured in a Duncan Hines book of must-eats for travelers. In the 1980s, an addition to the rear of the diner more than doubled the space inside, adding the iconic fireplace and vaulted ceiling.
๐๐ค๐ฌ, the Walnut Bowl closed in the early 2000s. The old diner became home to the Red Hen Cafe for several years in the late 2000s, and since then has been home to Mexican restaurants. Arandas Mexican Restaurant calls the building home today. It is the only remaining piece of Dr. Hartโs Walnut Motel tourist court.
