Pine Box Dwellers are back this Sunday for Sunday Funday, and this one has all the makings of a great afternoon on the deck.

Last time Pine Box was here, the rain pushed us inside, and that show turned into something pretty special. But Pine Box out on the deck, with the marsh in the background and a little break from the heat? That’s pretty tough to beat.

These guys bring their own brand of Swamprock, and every time they play Uptown, it’s a fun one.

This is the kind of Saturday we’ve been waiting for.

The heat has finally backed off, the weather looks fantastic, and college football is officially in full swing. If you’ve been looking for a reason to get out of the house and enjoy St. Simons, tomorrow is it.

At Uptown, we’ll have football rolling from noon into the night:

12:00 • Texas at Tennessee
3:30 • Ole Miss at Florida
3:30 • Oklahoma at Georgia
7:30 • Texas A&M at LSU

Come by early for a cold beer and a flatbread. Settle in for the Dawgs. Switch over to a cocktail later in the day. Pop in, head back out, come back again. It’s that kind of Saturday.

The flags will be flying. The friendly trash talk is encouraged.

Most of all, get out and enjoy this weather while we’ve got it.

📚 30+ readers. One book. A whole lot to say.

The first-ever Uptown Unbound Book Club was a heck of a night.

More than 30 people joined us at Uptown to talk about Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke, and there were definitely opinions. The group landed at 3.5 out of 5 stars, with most saying they’d recommend it, although perhaps with a warning label attached. 😂

Which, frankly, is exactly what we wanted from this book club: good books, different perspectives, lively conversation, and a drink in your hand while we sort it all out.

So let’s do it again.

Baxter Kicklighter is playing Uptown tonight from 6–8 PM, and this is one of those Wednesday shows worth making plans for.

Baxter brings 22 years of playing experience and performs solo with an acoustic guitar, covering a wide range of styles. He also plays in the regional touring band Kicklighter, which won Artist of the Year at the 2025 Golden Isles Music Awards and followed that up this year with Best Live Performance for their live-recorded rendition of the Shocking Blue classic “Love Buzz.”

Their music is also regularly heard on local rock radio, including 93.7 The Bridge, and Baxter will soon be heading to Nashville’s Music Row with the band to record their sophomore album.

Tonight, though, you get him in a much more intimate setting at Uptown.

The weather is going to be outstanding, the show is going to be terrific, and the company, as always, will be great.

Tomorrow night is the night.

Uptown Unbound Book Club meets for the first time Tuesday, September 15, from 6 to 7 PM at Uptown Tap & Cigar.

Our inaugural book is Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke, and there should be plenty to talk about. Love it, hate it. We're still figuring out what you think. Bring your opinion.

Didn’t finish the book? Come anyway. Read part of it? Come anyway. Haven’t read it at all but want to hear the discussion and see what Uptown Unbound is about? You’re welcome too.

Grab a drink, join the conversation, and bring your point of view. We’re hoping for good discussion, different opinions, a little camaraderie, and one simple expectation: be polite.

No sign-up is needed. Just show up and look for the Uptown Unbound sign.

Meet Chef Andrew, our Sunday Funday secret weapon.

Andrew stays pretty busy the rest of the week, but on Sundays, he comes on over to Uptown to cook up something special for Sunday Funday. Along with all your regular Uptown favorites, he usually has a little something extra up his sleeve.

Today’s special?

FILET O’ FISH SLIDERS.

And no, you’ve never had a Filet O’ Fish like this before.

Fresh-caught fish dipped in Uptown beer batter, fried up crispy, topped with seaweed aioli, and served on a sweet bun. Chef Andrew’s take on a fast-food classic is decidedly not fast food.

And that’s just the start of Sunday Funday.

Cobra Cowboy hits Uptown from 3–6 PM with their own twist on songs you know, the NFL is back on the TVs, the drinks are cold, the ci**rs are ready (smoking on the deck only), and the regular Uptown menu is rolling.

Live music. Football. Chef Andrew in the kitchen. Cold drinks. Good food. Ci**rs. Friends.

Sounds like a pretty good Sunday to us.
