Hello from The Flame Bar & Grill!

We wanted to take a moment to answer some of the questions we've been receiving regarding the American Legion.

Yes, we've been in discussions with the Legion since October of last year. Those conversations began to pick up momentum in last winter and continued throughout the spring/summer as communication and negotiations progressed.

Throughout this process, we've made it a priority to understand and respect what the American Legion means to our veterans, their families, and the St. Peter community. Our goal isn't to change what the Legion stands for—it's to help strengthen it because we recognize how important it is to so many people.

We're currently working toward a lease agreement for The Flame to take over the day-to-day operations inside the Legion building. The Legion is not becoming The Flame. It will continue to operate as the American Legion. We will simply be managing the food, beverage, and daily operations within the building. While there will certainly be some operational changes, that's simply because The Flame and the Legion have traditionally operated in different ways.

What can you expect?

At some point, we'll likely create a doorway between the two buildings to allow guests to move between The Flame and the Legion when appropriate. There will also be times when those doors remain closed—for example, during bingo or other Legion-specific events—to ensure each space can function independently when needed.

Food service from The Flame will continue to be prepared and served from The Flame side. How we'll utilize the Legion kitchen will evolve over time as we determine what best serves both businesses and the community.

Although the two spaces will be connected, they will remain two separate entities, each with its own identity and purpose.

We're excited about the possibilities ahead. We have ideas for making greater use of the Legion's back room, hosting more community events, and creating an even stronger place for veterans, families, and the community to gather.

One thing that's especially important to us is honoring the history of the Legion. We'd love to display more military memorabilia throughout the building. If you or your family have items, photographs, uniforms, medals, or other pieces of history that you'd like to loan or donate for display, we'd be honored to help preserve and share those stories.

This is just the beginning. Shannon and I have spent a lot of time discussing how we can respect the Legion's traditions while helping ensure it continues to thrive for years to come. We're excited to share more as things become official, and we truly appreciate the support, questions, and encouragement we've received from the community throughout this process.
