Wonderful!

At about 2:30 Monday afternoon, a Kemp's ridley sea turtle, one of the rarest species of sea turtles, crawled ashore Sebastian Inlet State Park's north beach to lay her eggs. Park staff and onlookers stayed well back to give her privacy. Her nest will be caged for extra protection from predators and followed by park staff who will monitor its success!

This photo was taken by Ed Perry, Park Services Specialist at Sebastian Inlet, with a large telephoto lens to ensure a safe distance from the turtle.
