REST. RESIST. REPEAT.
Full Text of Post:
Gumbo is used as a metaphor for the mix of cultures in southern Louisiana and the history of resiliency, community, and adaptability.
We may be on the opposite end of the Mississippi but the Twin Cities is a beautiful, piping hot pot of Gumbo atop a flame that cannot be blown out.
After the murder of Alex Pretti this morning, we are scared. We are hurting. We are ANGRY. We must be all of those things and continue to resist. This is a marathon. And yes, we must prepare ourselves for it to get worse. To do that we cannot allow those around us to stay silent. We cannot accept anyone to say that this “isn’t political”. Yes- this is about people, this is about families, this is about humanity. Pushing back against the complacency or deflection of the people you are surrounded by is not easy but it is necessary. These murders and continual violence is not due to “untrained officers”, the lack of organization within ICE is intentional and necessary to inflict said violence with impunity.
To do anything less than condemn the Trump administration and the MAGA lackeys who sent murderous federal agents into our streets is allowing it to continue. To condemn Trump and MAGA is not to applaud the democrats. We cannot count on them to save us, either. What we must do is organize ourselves to do everything we can to resist this occupation and take care of our neighbors. You may not be able to attend protests or have the financial means to donate, but there are things you can do with any capacity you have to fight back. YOU MUST FIGHT BACK! If you need help getting connected, our DMs are open. WE WILL WIN.
